FAMILY LAW

All services of the Women’s Law Center of Maryland are free, confidential and – pending capacity constraints – available to all persons regardless of gender/assigned sex at birth, race, national origin, ethnicity, age, religion, as well as disability or veteran status. Accommodations, including translation services, are available upon request.

In Maryland, family law encompasses the legal framework governing familial relationships including marriage, divorce, child custody, and adoption. It aims to protect the best interests of children and establish equitable outcomes for all parties involved. The Women’s Law Center provides pro bono direct Family Law Services through three programs:

FAMILY LAW HOTLINE

The Family Law Hotline is a free and confidential service that provides guidance – not legal representation – on Family Law cases from experienced attorneys to help callers understand their rights and navigate the legal system.

Weekdays from 9:30AM – 4:30PM

COLLATERAL LEGAL ASSISTANCE FOR SURVIVORS (CLAS)

The Collateral Legal Assistance for Survivors Project offers holistic legal services and representation to survivors of intimate partner violence in areas such as divorce, custody, and protective orders. CLAS promotes family and financial stability and decreases the likelihood of survivors returning to their abusers.

JUDICARE BALTIMORE COUNTY

The Judicare Project provides eligible low-income litigants in Baltimore County with professional legal representation in divorce and child custody cases.  The Judicare Project is administered by WLCMD on behalf of Maryland Legal Service Corporation.
