Women's Law Center of Maryland

Volunteer

Get involved with the Women’s Law Center! We have several volunteer opportunities for attorneys available on a rolling basis:

EMPLOYMENT LAW HOTLINE

Experienced employment law attorneys are needed to staff the WLC Employment Law Hotline on Tuesday mornings and Thursday evenings. Volunteers answer Maryland employment law questions, make referrals, and complete a summary form for each caller. Volunteers are also added to the WLC Employment Law Panel with access to the viable case referrals from ELH callers.

JUDICARE *PAID OPPORTUNITIES*

WLC Judicare offers experienced Family Law attorneys $120/hour to take on contested custody, contempt, and divorce cases in Baltimore County. Litigation costs are reimbursed by the PBRC Litigation Fund. The Judicare project supports low-income litigants who are often unable to access legal services because of the complex nature of their cases.

PROTECTIVE ORDERS (POARP)

The WLC offers free trainings in protective orders for law firms interested in supporting the POARP project.  Once completed, firms are asked to commit to representing a small number of clients each quarter.  Attorneys must have at least three years of experience in Family Law or be supervised by an experienced Family Law attorney.
